Dryland Training Camps

Dryland training camps are arranged to provide year-round coaching assistance to developing and high performance cross country skiers as well as to master skiers with decent physical condition.

Training camps are important for the following reasons:


  • Multi-session, dedicated training days;
  • Developing self-discipline and organization within a focused peer group;
  • Evolving team building skills;
  • Working with new training partners;
  • Training in different set ups and environments;
  • Improved adaptability to travel and new training surroundings;

The Summer/fall society training camps aim to develop:

  • General stamina - running, mountain biking, kayaking
  • All-round skills – general strength, agility, flexibility, balance, speed
  • Specific ski skills - ski-striding, plyometric strength, specific strength, roller skiing

Participants will be coached by professional ski coach and they will enjoy teamwork together with Heather and Josh, top young athletes in their age groups.

(Program: Hike, run, MTB, games, strength)

#3 Camp, Stake Lake, Kamloops 6 days Jul 26 – 31, 2007
(Program: MTB, run, poles-run, kayaking, plyometric, strength)

#4 Camp, Kelowna 6 days Aug 28 – Sep 2, 2007
(Program: Run – XC, track, poles-run, roller skiing, kayaking, strength)

#5 Camp, Nelson 3 days Sep 28 – 30, 2007
(Program: MTB, run, strength)

#6 Camp + Physio Testing, Vancouver, 6 days Oct 17– 22, 2007 Kelowna
(Program: Roller skiing, run, Physio testing)

Camp Fee

Full day coaching fee is $ 50 per person (half day $ 25), additional $ 30 per sibling.

Participants will share coach’s travel cost even if they will make their own travel arrangement.

Registration

To register for the camp please download the Registration Form together with the Camp Waiver (PDF format), fill them out and bring it to first day of the camp.

Registration notice with your full name, day of birth and name of your club e-mail 48 hours prior to each camp without accommodation interest or 5 days prior to each camp with accommodation interest to: wnordicksi@hotmail.com

Accommodation & Meal

Accommodation & Meal will not be provided. For three and more athletes interested in is option to arrange accommodation. Athletes will share coach’s accommodation cost.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their own travel.

Training Camp Check List

  • Waiver Form and the Registration Form with a Medical Number
  • Running and hiking equipment (cloth, back pack, camelbak)
  • Two pairs of running shoes
  • Roller skiing equipment if is arranged in program (roller skis, poles, ski boots, helmet, reflective vest, gloves, knee pads)
  • Mountain bike equipment if is arranged in program (bike, helmet, bike shoes, gloves, goggles)
  • Running poles if is arranged in program (length up to middle chest)
  • Juveniles and juniors, bring your heart rate monitors
  • Water bottle and holder, sport drink and recover drink
  • Spare and another training clothes for all weather conditions
  • Sun glasses, sun block, cap
  • Bathing suit
  • Exercise mat
  • Personal medicine, vitamins and another food supplements
